DESCRIPTION
Inspired by Ary Scheffer's painting "Heavenly Love and Earthly Love" (circa 1845), this work reinterprets an emblematic 19th-century scene in which the artist explores the tension between divine and human love, between spiritual elevation and earthly desire. His figures already embody a quest for unity between heaven and earth. In Justine Coquidé's reinterpretation, the composition engages with the symbolism of the World card in the Tarot: the nude woman at the center represents fulfillment and inner harmony. Around her, the eagle, the ferocious beast, the tattooed bull, and the angel evoke the four elements and the forces that balance the universe. The work becomes an ode to the freedom of being and the profound connection between body, soul, and the world. This contemporary vision transforms Romantic painting into a celebration of wholeness: everything is connected, everything is in motion, everything makes sense.
