What a story! 🎨




 This artwork features Apollo, the Greek god of light and the arts, represented by a plaster cast from Antonio Canova's Gypsotheque in Possagno, the artist's birthplace. The collage juxtaposes this mythical figure with the symbols of Gemini: the butterfly, representing the transformation and duality of this astrological sign, and the mirror effect, evoking the dual nature of Gemini. Justine Coquidé enriches her unique collage technique by incorporating her drawings of the constellation. This dialogue between a traditional technique like drawing and the art of collage introduces a contrast that challenges conventions and allows us to rediscover the art of astrology.




 Gemini is associated with the myth of Castor and Pollux , the famous twins of Greek mythology. Castor, son of Leda, was mortal, while Pollux, son of Zeus, was immortal. When Castor died in battle, Pollux, inconsolable, asked his father to share his immortality with his brother. Zeus agreed and placed the two brothers in the sky as the constellation Gemini, a symbol of brotherhood and eternal union.


 In astrology, Gemini embodies duality, adaptability, and the constant need to explore and share ideas—qualities beautifully illustrated in this art card.
