The Leopard 🐆
The artist Herbert Dicksee belongs to a renowned artistic family. His father was the painter John Dicksee (1817–1905). 👨👩👦
He studied art at the Slade School in London. His first painting was exhibited in 1881. He was a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers.
He specializes in oil paintings depicting deer and dogs, hunting scenes, and felines (which he copies at the London Zoo). 🐶🐯🦁
Most of his paintings are executed from life. There are also portraits of elegant women accompanied by their dogs; his favorite model was the actress Gladys Cooper. 🖼
