What a story! 🎨
Created between 1789 and 1794, Antonio Canova's sculpture Venus and Adonis depicts Venus, goddess of love, trying to hold onto her lover Adonis, whom she knows is doomed to die during a hunt. He is still unaware of his fate; she, as a goddess, already knows it and carries this awareness in her gaze. Canova chose to freeze this moment before their separation: this suspended instant where desire, fear, and tenderness intertwine. In Justine Coquidé's reinterpretation, this scene finds a new echo through the Lovers card in the Tarot. She explores the complexity of the bond and the choice: to love is sometimes to accept letting go, to trust in fate rather than trying to hold on. Under the gaze of the kingfisher, symbol of joy, fidelity, and love, the lovers no longer experience tragedy, but the continuity of their feelings. Love here becomes a suspended moment, a fragile balance between attachment and letting go.
A MESSAGE FOR YOU
If this poster has come to you, it's to remind you that you are loved and that your mere presence is enough to make the world a more beautiful place. The Lover invites you to recognize love in all its forms: in a shared glance, a sincere word, a tender gesture. In family, friends, your loved one, and even in the smiles that brighten your day. Love cannot be possessed; it is shared. The more you give, the more it circulates, the more it returns to you. Love life for what it brings you and for what it teaches you. Love yourself for who you become each day, for the beautiful person you already are. I wish you to love yourself, to love and be loved without reservation, to let this feeling flow through you every day of your life.
