What a story! 🎨




 Alexandre Cabanel painted this canvas while a resident at the Villa Medici, where he was required to submit works, including an academy drawing of a male nude. This particular work depicts Lucifer, whose name means "Light-bearer," and who is often associated with Satan.
 In this depiction, the angel is exiled on earth. He is painted like a Greek hero, like a god with a perfect body.
 He raises his head and looks down at the land of his exile. This defiant gaze suggests that he is already plotting his revenge…
 Today, Lucifer falls from his paradise for another reason. Is he simply "falling in love"? The black panther, a symbol of death and rebirth, evokes heartbreak. But Lucifer falls only to rise again, for love is an eternal virtue.
