THE SIXTIN CHAPEL

 The Sistine Chapel, located in the Vatican, is one of the jewels of Renaissance art, largely thanks to Michelangelo's frescoes, painted between 1508 and 1512. Among these, "The Creation of Adam" stands out in particular. This iconic fresco depicts the biblical moment when God brings Adam to life, illustrated by the almost touching hands of the two figures—a powerful symbol of the divine and human connection. Michelangelo, initially reluctant to accept this commission because he preferred sculpture, nevertheless succeeded in radically transforming the visual language of Western art through his bold compositions and masterful treatment of the human figure.

 In my reinterpretation of Michelangelo's iconic "Creation of Adam," I incorporated rock and contemporary elements to give it a new dimension. I added jewelry adorning the figures, symbolizing superficiality and the modern obsession with appearance. At the heart of the work, the Instagram heart creates a striking parallel, denouncing the grip social media has on our society. The artwork is printed on a mirror, adding another dimension, literally reflecting the viewer and inviting them to confront their own image in this world of virtual connections. This juxtaposition underscores the lost sacredness in a universe where immediacy and illusion often take precedence over depth and authenticity.
