 Dating back to 120 BC, the Venus de Milo was discovered in the spring of 1820 in the Cyclades archipelago in Greece, on the island of Milos. A true symbol of femininity, the marble statue represents the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite. It is through multiple fragmented faces, created using a collage technique, that it has been reconstructed and rediscovered.
 The holes in the statue's arms prove that it was adorned at the time with real jewelry... bracelets, earrings and even headbands in the hair.
 Today, she is once again adorned with her former jewels, exuding an unbridled confidence. The famous Venus transcends generations, more powerful and robust than ever. Now on display at the Louvre in Paris, the statue continues to generate discussion. Nine years ago, the feminist association Femen protested against violence against women at the foot of the Venus. As a tribute to the movement and this courageous action, Justine Coquidé also wanted to represent, through her collage, the multitude of women victims who rise up and fight their oppressors with strength and honor.
