A leading figure of Pop Art, James Rosenquist was a multidisciplinary American artist. He drew heavily on advertising references, composing his works through collages of advertising images. He reinvented a reality that had already been distorted. His works are also known for their monumental scale. The artist Justine Coquidé pays homage to him by staging the stereotypes of Man—featuring the Americanized, high-powered car and the luscious red lips representing glamour and femininity—in a vibrant and colorful way. This allows us to rediscover and embrace the essence of this cultural movement of the 1960s.
