 Eugène Delacroix was a French painter considered one of the leading figures of the Romantic movement. He is best known for his painting "Liberty Leading the People," which has become a symbol of democracy.
 During his career, the painter undertook a journey to Morocco and Algeria. His visit to North Africa introduced him to the Orient. He left behind numerous sketchbooks and preparatory drawings.
 There he discovers exotic animals like the Royal Tiger, which is reinventing itself here. The tiger symbolizes courage, determination, and independence.
 Upon returning to France, the Orient profoundly marked him; there he painted one of his most famous canvases, "Women of Algiers in their apartment".
