What a story! 🎨




 Created by Justine Coquidé, this poster blends drawing and collage to revisit Ingres's Jupiter and Thetis with a contemporary aesthetic. Thetis, chosen to embody the astrological sign of Cancer, reflects water, the Moon, and profound emotions. A sea nymph in Greek mythology, Thetis, daughter of Nereus and Doris, is known for her beauty and power. Protective and devoted, she dipped her son Achilles in the Styx to make him invincible. In Ingres's work, she is depicted pleading with Jupiter, but in Justine Coquidé's reinterpretation, she breaks free from this pose to reveal a confident and independent femininity. This reinterpretation connects Antiquity, Neoclassicism, and modernity, offering a contemporary Thetis, strong and sensitive, in perfect harmony with the essence of Cancer. A symbol of protection, home, and resilience, Cancer embodies in astrology a nurturing and instinctive energy, magnificently captured in this artistic creation.




 Cancer is linked to the myth of Heracles and the Giant Crab . During the battle against the Lernaean Hydra, Hera, Heracles' enemy, sent a giant crab to distract him. Although crushed by the hero, the crab was honored by Hera, who raised it to the heavens in the form of the constellation Cancer.
